Chris Farthing won the G&G Open Challenge Cup this weekend in a relatively uneventful affair. The Lawns were medium paced (faster than they looked but consistent and easily manageable). Hoops were tight and firm (thanks Mroz!!!).
Saturday's play went pretty much as expected: Farthing and Sam Tudor on 100%, Mrozinski, Nick Harris and Lawrence Whittaker on 1 loss.
Early losses by both Farthing and Tudor on Sunday led to the inevitable managerial nightmare (the ad hoc manager - me - being new to this!). However a quality fifth turn finish by Farthing over Mroz (either side of lunch at the pub - for G&G regulars we've decided to change venue to The Manor) allowed for a reasonably legitimate "final" between him and Tudor.
(Harris was also still on one loss, but had played less games).
Literally "a game of two halves", Tudor raced ahead (to 6 after hitting the supershot 2nd turn, then to 4-back with the backward ball). However, Farthing gained control and finished with another clinical TP, his 4th of the weekend.
Congrat's Chris, and thanks to the weather for not bringing the promised rain!
