The WCF has now released details of the 8th Golf Croquet World Championship which will be held in Cape Town, South Africa 8-16th March 2008. England have been awarded six places of right plus an individual invitation to Stephen Mulliner who was a semi finalist in the 2006 event.
The WCF has asked that nominations for these places and for potential wild cards is received by 20 August. This date is earlier than allowed by the WCF rules for the competition but the WCF wish to know as soon as possible who are likely to be the entrants as the dates for this event and the Association Croquet world championship are very close. We have agreed to provide a provisional selection by the 18 Aug on the understanding that we can modify our nominations if necessary after the major Golf Croquet event held in September. We therefore intend to confirm and publicise our nominations on 1 Oct which is the earliest date allowed by the WCF rules
To allow the Selectors sufficient time for their deliberations, I would ask that all players who are qualified to play for England and wish to be considered, to register their availability by 1 Aug 2007. Registration may be through the members area on this web site or by email or post to the Chairman of GC Selectors. I would remind all selected players that all their travel and hotel costs must be met by themselves and a £60 entry fee will be required by the WCF.
