Surbiton Easter Advanced 20th-21st April 2003

[<<] [>>] by Kevin Carter
22nd April 2003 (AC)

This two-day event attracted a full house of 30 and each played up to eight games under the flexible swiss format.

The winner, unbeaten on 6/6 was David Mundy and in second place was Chris Patmore, who also completed the most triples (three).

These were the only two players to record less than two losses, which looked an unlikely outcome when 13 were in contention overnight!

The favourites on paper were probably Jeff Dawson, who finished with 5/7, and man-of-the-moment Rutger Bodgerwelly, who found Surbiton's conditions more of a challenge than those of Southwick.

It was good to see Andrew Gregory having a good tourney and coming back to scratch.
