Despite last minute illness and the inadvertent fielding of an ineligible player, Newport managed to win this encounter, played at Newport on 5 June, by 4 games to 3.

Scores were as follows, Newport players first

Andrew Gregory (2) and Chris van Essen (9) lost to Ken Knock (6) and David Boxell (18) 2 - 26 (match forfeit to Pinchbeck in any case)

Alex Lake (8) beat Charles Ostler (4.5) 26 - 4

Jerome Gasson (9) beat Jonathan Toye (7) 26 - 0

Andrew Gregory beat Charles Ostler 27-17 (but match forfeit to Pinchbeck)

Alex Lake beat Ken Knock 26 - 0

Chris van Essen Lost to Jonathan Toye (14 - 18 T)

Jerome Gasson beat David Boxell (25 - 17 T)
