The Oxford Croquet Site is pleased to have been selected by John Riches to present his series of eight
croquet booklets covering; Tactics, Techniques, Sports Psychology and Refereeing. The booklets are presented as web pages and PDF files. They will be added at approximately monthly intervals and flagged on the site's What's New page.
The third booklet "Croquet: The Mental Approach" is applicable to all levels of player. To my mind it is his best booklet. It covers the following topics:
INTRODUCTION: PSYCHOLOGY IN CROQUET
1 Psyching Down
2 Overcoming Nervousness
3 Confidence Building
4 Rhythm Of Swing
5 Rhythm Of Break
6 Psychology Of Tactics
7 Psychological Distracters
8 Illusions
9 Psychology Of Cheating
10 Psychology Of Practising
11 Psychology Of Coaching
12 Create Your Own Distraction
13 Turn Negatives Into Positives
14 Conclusion
15 Addendum
We are indebted to John Ballantyne who did the major task of converting the booklets into electronic format. His "PDF" files were the basis for the alternative web page versions and have higher quality images than the latter.
Enjoy.
